In this project, Ziheng wants to explore the relationship between human’s vision and the “true” world. The round composition is to record the landscape like “celestial body” which observe from telescope. This explains the limitation of human’s vision and reminds audience to think about the authenticity of this world.

 

The energy of a place and its emotional and spiritual vibrations are always important, so he uses wildlife and nature as a starting point. “The ultimately great has no outside. The ultimately small has no inside.” From Taoism.

 

The strong visual seductiveness, along with the round composition, further complicates the reception of their manifold layers of meaning. Significations are inversed then form and content merge. Shapes are dissociated from their original meaning, by which the system in which they normally function is exposed.

 

This project establishes a link between the landscape’s reality and that imagined by its conceiver. With a conceptual approach, the artiest tries to approach a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered way and focus on concrete questions that determine our existence.

 

By emphasizing aesthetics, he investigates the dynamics of landscape, including the manipulation of its effects and the limits of spectacle based on our assumptions of what landscape means to us. Rather than presenting a factual reality, an illusion is fabricated to conjure the realms of our imagination.
